The Couple
On a balcony in college during a summer storm (it was too hot to stay inside with the power out). Megan was reading an Anne Rice novel, and Risto ate a tomato off of the plant we were growing.
In the atrium of the National Portrait gallery, which had an exhibit on American poets. He recited some Lorca; Megan had no idea what was actually happening until he said, "I have a question to ask you."
General
We have a 1920s, lost-generation-in-Paris theme, but it's very liberally interpreted. If you've seen "Midnight in Paris," that's the feel we're going for.
August 1, 2014. You can RSVP by mail or by visiting the RSVP page of our website.
After nine years together, we've got all the housewares we need, so we've set up a honeymoon registry where you can choose an activity to contribute towards.
We won't be throwing a bouquet or tossing a garter, and we'll have pie instead of cake. We will also be forgoing the Finnish tradition of kidnapping the bride.
Travel & Accommodations
If you're traveling from the East coast, we recommend flying Jet Blue.
There are room blocks reserved at three nearby hotels. See the accommodations section for more information.
All three hotels are located in the Back Bay area of Boston, which is a short cab ride to the venue. The room block rates are similar as well: the Lenox is $269/night, the Copley Square Hotel is $259/night, and the Westin is $219/night. We're staying at the Lenox.
Guests
No, sorry. This is an adults-only weekend.
No, of course not. We just wanted to give you the option. Feel free to come by yourself and make friends!
Cocktail attire and dancing shoes! Feel free to get into the 1920s theme with a sparkly dress or a three-piece suit if you like, but typical cocktail attire is fine too.
Food & Drink
There will be a cocktail hour as well as a three-course dinner and desert. We love to eat, so you won't leave hungry.
We're happy to work with the Beehive to accommodate you—just email us beforehand to let us know the details.
We've got you covered during the rehearsal dinner and ceremony/reception.
